I was laid off. How should I answer "Why are you looking for a new role?" in a recruiter screen?

Keep it positive and forward-focused — never mention the layoff, team issues, lack of growth, or anything negative. A strong answer sounds like: "I'm looking for the right team and project where I can leverage my skill set and experience to deliver meaningful growth and impact. That's why I'm particularly excited about this role — because I can use [specific skill/experience] to [achieve X goal] for your company." Your CSM will give you a customized version tied to the specific job description. Keep it to 30 seconds.
